The Mutables are a classic case of a side project taking over and getting a life of its own. Lead Guitarist and Vocalist Eric Horton was taking a break from his Hard Rock band, Shrink Circus. Rhythm Guitarist (and beekeeper) Mark Williams was taking a break from his sensibilities. And Conga player Angus McMahan was taking a break from drumming for Pagan rituals.

These three journeymen musicians came together in November of 2009 to have some fun and write some songs. What they found is that two acoustic guitars and two congas playing rock ‘n’ roll creates a fresh, unique sound, one that is both exciting and refreshing. With several intriguing originals in their set, the Mutables have recently begun to apply their odd sensibilities to a wide-range of cover tunes, with predictably strange results. You’ve been warned. You will be entertained at a Mutables show, but you may not be sure why.
