Tom Wheeler appears to have misjudged public opinion and fellow commissioners as a campaign is mounted to urge him to adapt his proposal on allowing broadband providers to strike special deals with web giants for preferential treatment in the "last mile" to consumers.

Imagine Arab Spring in a world where your ISP could keep you from seeing it first hand because the top executives don't like it.  Would Arab Spring have been possible in such a world?  What about pepper sprayed peaceful protestors - Would anyone have known about them?  Withouth a truly free, and unfettered internet, the brave new world of 1st Amendment exercise will come to a screeching halt, and then where will we be.
